Alicante
golf disposes of 18th golf
course, designed by Severiano
Ballesteros. This course is
consider the big green-lung
of Playa de San Juan in Alicante,
and the most characterist
and international influence
of the complete project.
It come across a residential
space with an area of 535.000
m2. With a distance of 6.270
metres, 72 par, its parcials
are very equilibrated: 3.125
metres the front nine and
the rest for the back ones.
Seve mentioned once that "the
course is very attractive
and variated. It called to
use all the clubs. Each hole
needs a very specific and
different strategy. The holes
are a constant and personal
bet for players".
Large
tees and wide fairways, this golf
course has its own personality,
with five huge lakes which condition
the play. It is spacius but there
are a number of holes with out-of-bounds
and the course increases in fifficulty
as it goes on.
Greens
are ample and straghtforward, defended
by strategically located bunkers.
It has two unusual features: the
first is the lake in the shape of
an S (the initial of the designer)
surrounding the green on the 9th;
the second is the Roman ruins next
to the 14th which the player has
to clear to reach the green.
